Best known for her lead role as Grace Adler on the popular sitcom Will & Grace, Debra Messing followed up her Brandeis University education with a prestigious Masters in Fine Arts from NYU.
Fresh out of college, Messing landed a role on the TV drama NYPD Blue and after only four episodes was offered the lead role in Ned and Stacey.
Messing enjoyed moderate big screen success before landing the role that would make her a household name on Will & Grace. Since the show debuted in 1998, Messing has taken roles in romantic movies such as Along Came Polly and The Wedding Date.
Messing married writer/actor Daniel Zelman, whom she met her first day at NYU, in 2000. The couple welcomed son Roman in 2004. They announced their split in December 2011.
Messing starred in the USA miniseries The Starter Wife beginning in 2007, which was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. The couple split in 2012.
