Born in Albuquerque but raised in Dallas, Demi Lovato got her start on Barney & Friends alongside fellow future Disney star Selena Gomez. Lovato’s success continued with roles in Disney Channel’s As the Bell Rings, Sonny with a Chance and the Camp Rock movie franchise.
In 2008, Lovato signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut album, Don’t Forget. Her second studio album, Here We Go Again, hit No. 1 in 2009 and was followed up by 2010’s Unbroken, 2013’s Demi, 2015’s Confident and 2017’s Tell Me You Love Me. She served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor for two seasons from 2012 to 2013.
Lovato has been candid about her struggles with eating disorders, substance abuse and mental illness. In July 2018, Lovato suffered a near-fatal drug overdose after celebrating six years of sobriety. She was hospitalized and later entered a treatment center.
After a hiatus from the spotlight, Lovato released the documentary Dancing With the Devil in 2021 alongside her seventh album of the same name. Her eighth album, Holy Fvck, was released in 2022.
Lovato was briefly linked to Metro Station’s lead singer, Trace Cyrus, in 2009 and to Joe Jonas in 2010. She dated Wilmer Valderrama on and off for six years from 2010 to 2016.
After flings with Henry Levy and Austin Wilson, Lovato moved on with Max Ehrich in March 2020. The pair got engaged in July 2020 but called it quits two months later. Lovato was first linked to Jordan Lutes in August 2022, and the pair made their red carpet debut in February 2023.
