About

Nicole Kidman was born in Hawaii, but her family returned to their native Australia when she was 3 years old.

After dropping out of high school to pursue acting full-time, Kidman landed small roles in Australian films and TV series. She starred in the 1990 film Days of Thunder — widely considered to be her international breakout role — alongside her future husband Tom Cruise. Kidman went on to star in Batman Forever (1995), Practical Magic (1998), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Moulin Rouge!, (2001), The Hours (2002), The Stepford Wives (2004), The Golden Compass (2007) and Nine (2009).

Kidman went on to star in Paddington (2014), Lion (2016), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), Aquaman (2018), The Goldfinch (2019), Bombshell (2019) and Being the Ricardos (2017), returning to television as an executive producer and star of HBO’s Big Little Lies and The Undoing and Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers.

Throughout her career, Kidman has won an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, six Golden Globe Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award.

Kidman married Cruise in 1990 less than one year after they met. The couple adopted daughter Isabella in 1992 and son Connor in 1995 before calling it quits in 2001. Kidman moved on with Keith Urban, whom she married in 2006. The couple welcomed daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008. Daughter Faith Margaret was born via surrogate in December 2010.
